Members of UCU range from teaching fellows and lecturers to postgraduate students who teach. They are making their voices heard collectively as a result of the pay offer and the impact they consider it to have on pay, equality and job security.
UCU members have called for industrial action through a national ballot in relation to the ongoing pay negotiations between the Universities and Colleges Employers Association (UCEA; which represents universities as employers) and trade unions, as a result of the 1.1% pay offer from UCEA.
Currently, strike action is planned for the 25th and 26th May, followed by action short of a strike by working to contract.
Will this affect our student membership ?
The University has confirmed that the strikes will NOT affect any students taking exams during those days.
The Executive Team’s stance.
