► Running a Society

Starting a new society

Starting a new society is easy. You just need to find 3 or more UEL students to become Society Organisers & at least 10 UEL students in total who will become members of the society to begin with.

Society Organisers can choose to set a society membership fee for UEL students, between £0 (free) and £5.

Re-registering an old society

Whether you are a new society or a returning society who has already been registered in 2011-12, you will need to register for the new academic year. Societies are encouraged to book a Freshers Fair stall for several days during the Freshers Fair 17th - 21st September 2012, in order to publicise themselves to new students and recruit new society members.

Society Registration Forms

All societies must complete the registration forms for each academic year:

- Full Society Registration forms [S1-S5] (for registering your society for 2012-13)

- Society Members list [S6] (to record your society membership)

In order to register, complete the Registration Forms [S1-S5] and collect at least 10 members' signup details on members lists [S6], and submit by email to m.battye@uel.ac.uk for approval by the Activities Committee.

Freshers Fair Society Stalls

To book a stall for your society at the Freshers Fair (17-21 September 2012) for your society, fill out the Society Freshers Activities Booking Form

Societies STARS

[New for 2012-13!]

The Students Union is launching a new system to recognise and reward our good societies. It is called the Societies Training And Rewards Scheme (S.T.A.R.S). Societies are encouraged to apply for Silver Award and the very best societies will later apply for Gold Award, and these awards will be linked to the resources and privileges that the Students Union offers these societies. For more info please go to the Societies STARS page
