#LETSMAKEUELBETTER

Hi, I am Habeebat Sangodoyin, MSc Construction Engineering Management Student. My intention for vying for the post of Education Officer is to represent UEL students so as to improve the current educational services and facilities available and introducing new strategies by:

  1. Providing adequate support to students when required regarding module assessment, lectures, and any other areas to improve UEL learning experience.
  2. Improving feedback system to ensure students are satisfied with teaching quality. For instance feedback forms are filled after first two lectures and at the end of the series of lectures to evaluate the teaching quality of lecturers and where they need to improve for better student learning experience. For instance, extra tutorial classes would be requested for in calculation modules or any other modules which students may find challenging to comprehend, depending on feedback received after the first two lectures.
  3.  Introduction of platform to improve communication between student officers and students so as to be constantly updated on current challenges students are facing and how to improve.
  4. Designated mini-library/study areas in other buildings on campus. The intention for this is to reduce overcrowding in the library during exam periods in the University and also to provide an atmosphere where students can study in any of the blocks they feel comfortable in. In addition to reduce the stress of walking to the library especially during bad weather.
  5. Ensuring disabled students’ needs are met such as including library facility suited to their needs and ensuring adequate provisions of braille when needed.
  6. Putting in place a platform students present challenges faced academically and suggestion on how to improve study experience.
  7. Improving Employability: presently, it is a digital world, and employers are keen on prospective employees’ Information Technology skills and experience. In order to improve employability, and based feedback from students I intend to put in a place introduction of software learning classes common to most industries and inclusion of placement module to more courses.
  8. Organizing career talks during the semester: Inviting knowledgeable and experienced personnel in various field of studies to share their experience, insight and give a roadmap in our individually chosen career.

I hereby seek for your vote for the progress of this great citadel of knowledge, UEL.
