Joining a student group or society is a great way to meet other students, learn more about different cultures, and explore your interests.
Last week, we caught up with the Islamic society (UEL ISOC) to find out more about how they have adapted to the pandemic by moving their events online, and how interested students can get involved.
About UEL ISOC
Hello and Assalamualaikum (peace and blessings upon you).
The UEL ISOC is a student led faith-based society that aims to support students as well as give an insight into Islam.
Despite the pandemic, UEL ISOC has continued to host lots of great events, which have given students the opportunity to explore Islam, hear from guest speakers and have some fun, all from the comfort of their own home! If you would like to be part of an active student group that organises lots of fun events, you can join their committee. Becoming a committee member will give you the chance to take on a leadership role within the society, and you'll have a chance to gain experience in planning events and managing the society - it looks great on your CV and will help you to gain skills that will help you when you're a graduate seeking employment.
If you're interested in getting involved, send them an email!
Due to the pandemic, all of UEL ISOC's events have shifted online. However, it's still really easy to joining events and connect with others! If you're interested in attending any of their events, you can join the fun on Microsoft Teams.
Stay up to date
If you ever miss any of UEL ISOC's events, you can watch them all on their Youtube channel.
