Head of finance and administration
Salary: £45k full-time equivalent, £27k pro rata
Hours: part-time, three days per week, 0.6FTE
Job description and person specification

The postholder will lead the strategic and operational finance function to ensure effective financial management. This will involve modernising the service offer, systems, policies and procedures, including bringing back in house the accounting and payroll functions. The postholder will play a key role in developing the financial literacy and skills of staff, student officers and student groups. The postholder will be CCAB/CIMA qualified or CCAB/CIMA part-qualified with at least five years’ experience.

Head of engagement
Salary: £45k

The postholder will be responsible for transforming the Union’s approach to engagement with our members, clients and other stakeholders. This will involve developing and implementing new ways of working driven by a new insight function which will build our understanding of members’ needs, a new marketing and communications function which will enable meaningful communication with our stakeholders, and a new activities and events function which will support the building of engaged communities on our campuses.

Marketing and communications manager
Salary: £31k

The postholder will be responsible for the operational aspects of the Union’s marketing and communications work, seeking to publicise the Union’s activities and services and to increase engagement and participation in those activities and services. The postholder will also generate commercial revenue through advertising, media sales, experiences and other new markets.

Insight manager
Salary: £31k

The postholder will be responsible for developing the Union’s new insight function to embed the use of insight/data to inform decision-making, planning, execution and review of the Union’s work and, where appropriate, University projects. The insight function is new, so the postholder will have to work closely with colleagues to get this up-and-running.

Activities and events manager
Salary: £31k

The postholder will be responsible for the development of activities and events which support community-building and social cohesion in the University. They will support the establishment of student-led activities and events, ensure opportunities for personal development are maximised within those activities and events, and embed a culture which encourages student leadership of projects. The postholder will also develop a sustainable model for entertainment events.

Activities and events coordinator
Salary: £26k

The postholder will be responsible for supporting the development and delivery of activities and events, including establishing and working with student-led groups such as societies, clubs, associations, media, fundraising and volunteering. They will also deliver training and other development programmes for student leaders in student groups.

Advice manager
Salary: £31k
Job description and person specification

The postholder will be responsible for managing the advice service and providing advice on academic matters to students. They will be required to identify trends and produce reports using data emerging from the service, and use that to inform effective delivery of campaigns by student officers, other student representatives and staff.

Adviser
Salary: £25k
Job description and person specification

The postholder will be responsible for providing impartial advice to students on academic and housing matters. They will also represent and support students in meetings and panels and advocate on their behalf. They will provide feedback on policies and procedures to help develop a more preventive approach to the Union's work.

Policy manager
Salary: £31k
Job description and person specification

The postholder will be responsible for developing the Union’s new policy function to support student officers, other student representatives and staff to develop policy positions on issues affecting our members. They will undertake research in conjunction with colleagues to ensure policy is informed by evidence. The policy function is new, so the postholder will have to work closely with colleagues to get this up-and-running.
