Dear students,
Familiar for some, not for others; I’m Jitesh Mondal and I am planning a Students’ Union comeback with the amazing team, United We Stand as your Student Governor Trustee.
United We Stand is a team of 16 amazing candidates from across the world, who United aim to:
1. Bring back a vibrant, transparent and accountable Students' Union where students are aware of what's going on.
2. Introduce free printing for all students.
3. Bring back Boat Parties and Fiction nights, enriching our nightlife events.
4. An improved social life on campus with better spaces and options for socialising, eating, relaxing, and praying for all religions.
5. Getting things done for students through our democratic processes and committees.
Having served as the union Vice President Community Development in 2014/15 and Deputy President & Welfare officer in 2015/16, I know all the points above are achievable.
The comeback is because I am deeply disappointed that the amazing work carried out in the past has been abandoned and neglected by the new team.
The union strategy, a document that was created with the views of more than 1800 students and whilst undergoing my Postgraduate studies, I have seen no progress in utilising the invaluable feedback we got from our members.
I aim to:
- Ensure the students voice is represented at the top level of the Union and the University.
- Secure spaces for part time officers on the union trustee board sub-committees, so we have more representatives included in our decision making processes.
- Make sure students are at the forefront of everything we do and
- That we treat them with humbleness, respect and flexibility
Engaging with our SU needs to be a pleasant and rewarding process.
