I’m Stephen Amanwo, the currently the student union president, I’m contesting again on our upcoming elections, for my current position.  There are several reasons why I want to rerun for this coming election.  

• First reason been that I really want to complete so many projects we have started, that we are looking forward to finish.

• We kicked off from negotiating the last balance that gave UELSU reception a modern fittings and decorations.

•  Moving to the fantastic fresher’s fair last year which we got so many positive feedback from our students, which we are looking forward to improve even more this year. 

• There is a current negotiation with the university now to change our graduation ceremony dates, in such a way that it will favour all our students and not just home students only, which are more of the group benefiting the ceremony currently.  The international students are less advantage from my point of view based on the fact that.  They have to go back home after unofficial-graduation to apply for a new visa, which they are most likely to be rejected by the immigration, reason been that they will not go back to their country after few months graduation visa.  The negotiation is for the university to make the ceremony during June and July, which the university has likely agreed to move the graduation ceremony to July 2018, I want you to vote for me, so that I can stand and bush the university to move this date to July 2017.

• We are currently negotiating with the university to take over bookshop as the Union don’t have any commercial arms, which means the union having something they can make money from than just relying on the university for annual block.
