Hello all incredible UEL students
My name is Roosevelt Avi, I am currently your Vice President Social Sciences and ACE. It is with absolute pleasure that I am re-running to continue being your VP Social Sciences and ACE for the next academic year.
Twelve months ago I stood in elections to be the next VP Social Sciences and ACE, hoping to give everything I could for the students who had given me so much and make the UEL community the best place it could be.
In the last 8 months, I have spent countless hours in meetings with the University, lobbying them for the changes you wanted to see and even more time talking with students and programme reps to make sure I am doing what you elected me to do.
So far, I have represented the views of Students by:
- Organising a series of activities to celebrate Black History Month
- Achieving 10am start time for lectures for the school of Social Sciences
- Making sure interview panels have both gender and ethnic balance
If you re-elect me, I promise to
- Lobby the university to use the School of Social Sciences as a case study to make 10am start time across all the schools putting into consideration that 60% of our students are mature students
- Keep Wednesday afternoon lecture free to encourage students to take part in sports activities
- Have daytime events for mature students and student parents who are not free to attend evening events as a result of childcare or job commitments
- To make sure students from the LGBT community are represented better
- continue the process i have already started to make a change about the food on campus
