Hey it’s Ameen, a law student I am a part of you, a part of your community.
As a fresher it can be intimidating to immerse yourself in the diversity of events and experiences that University of East London(UEL) has to offer. Because I have been involved with UEL societies, I was a part of international student association. So maybe I will be able to understand what people expect the union to provide for them.
Therefore, as the officer of activities and events I will make sure the UEL is bursting with events every single day and keep people interested in events at and outside UEL, from discussion panels, workshops, fairs to jams, gigs and parties. My vision is the following.
- I will increase the visibility of societies. I think that entertainment at UEL will be improved if societies interact with each other more.
- Increase recognition for Sports and Societies
- Monthly student achievement newsletter
- Monthly induvial awards
- Use more of the TV screens
- Work to Improve Sponsorships – Assist Sports and Societies in generating strong financial performance via creative resources.
- Continue to working with the University to build a bigger profile for Women In Sports and Exercise (W.I.S.E)
- I will help societies reach their full potential by putting on joint events with the support of the Students Union.
- I will make sure there is a big event every Friday night hosted by our societies, encourage joint events and avoid monopolization of the UEL.
- I will help societies that want to find outside venues and opportunities by securing student deals and affordable prices.
- I will support sports societies by seeking sports development opportunities such as hiring spaces in sports centres.
- I will organize more parties with late license and also monthly club nights outside UEL.
- I will create a monthly calendar and guidebook of culture, music and art events in London and work out student deals.
- I will try to make uel a fun place to study
And finally, I will make sure you keep hearing good music in the shop since you’ve been enjoying it all year and anyone can contact me really easily through phone email or any other social sites. I am there 24/7 to listen to you .#letsdoit
