There are a number of part-time officer roles across the Students' Union. Part-time officers are students who volunteer to represent different groups of students and steer the Students' Union as members of our Students' Council. Part-time officers support the full-time officers by feeding back information from fellow students, attending committees and campaigning.
Black Students' Officer: Christopher Ok'Onkwo (email@example.com)
The Black Students' Officer must self-define as black, as defined by NUS Black Students Campaign, and is elected by black students only. Their role is to represent black students at UEL, within the Students' Union, the University and in the wider community.
They are also responsible for the promotion of black students' issues, for encouraging the involvment of black students in their Union and for coordinating the work of the Union on all matters relevant to black students. Finally, they hold responsibility for events, campaigns and activities organised under the banner of Black Students' Campaign.
International (Non-EU) Students' Officer: Erin Dennis (firstname.lastname@example.org)
The International (Non-EU) Students' Officer must be a non-home student from outside the European Union and is elected by non-home students from outside the EU only.
Their role is to represent International (Non-EU) students at UEL, within the Students' Union, the University and in the wider community.They are also responsible for the promotion of international students' issues, for encouraging the involvment of International students in the Union and for coordinating the work of the Union on all matters relevant to International students. Finally, they hold responsibility for events, campaigns amd activities organised under the banner of International
LGBT Officer: Sonia Quintero (email@example.com)
The LGBT Officer must self define as such and can only be voted in by other members who self define as LGBT. Their role is to represent LGBT students at UEL, within the Students' Union, and the wider community. They are also responsible for the promotion of LGBT issues, and to encourage the involvment of LGBT students in their Union. Any events, campaigns and activities undertaken by the Officers is organised under the banner of LGBT Campaign. Finally, the also hold responsibilities to implement policies as decided by the Union's democratic structures, and to ensure that all work carried out adheres to the Union's Consitution and Equal Opportunities policy.
Volunteering Representatives: Jayraj Samtani (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Our volunteers representative represent the Students' Union's volunteers on Students' Council. They are there to ensure that enough support, guidance and training is provided to our volunteers and provide various ideas about what volunteering projects the Union could engage with.
Societies Representatives are student society organisers who are elected by other society organisers to sit on UELSU Council, and also make decisions about societies as part of the UELSU Activities Committee.
